| In Feb 2007 we moved from Adams Morgan to Monarch Beach. It's different, very much so. So, if you like, check back and witness our transformation from urbanites to beach bums. |

| Devil Rays 11, Yanks 8 (yes, Devil Rays) |
| Thursday, May 05, 2005 |

No amount of profanity can begin to expound on what this is doing to me. Plus, this is a fam blog, so, I digress. Here goes a clean version of what I'm thinking.
They come to the ballpark every day, fully within the comfortable employ of the New York Yankees. They step into the familiar road gray uniforms every day, "New York" stitched proudly across the front. They pull those famous midnight blue hats onto their heads every day, with the interlocking white "NY" on the front.
They do everything the way they always have - all the routines, all the rites, all the small ceremonies. They talk as they always have, walk as they always have, look exactly the same as they always have.
Right up to the point where they step on the field.
It's then when they inexplicably morph into a hapless team, a helpless team, unable to pitch a lick, unable to hit in the clutch, unable to make important defensive plays, unable to rely on their bullpen, their bench, their bombers, their battlers.
Unable, for the second straight night, to keep the woeful Tampa Bay Devil Rays out of double figures. |
