The Yankees showed fire last night, storming back from a 10-2 fifth-inning deficit to destroy the Devil Rays, 20-11. The Bombers (37-33) equaled the second-largest comeback in franchise history despite being down 11-7 in the eighth.
Bernie Williams' three-run triple to deep center with one out in the eighth gave the Yankees their first lead of the night, and Jorge Posada, Gary Sheffield, Alex Rodriguez and Hideki Matsui homered later in the inning. Sheffield, A-Rod and Matsui hit back-to-back-to-back jacks off Harper with two outs during a 35-minute half-inning. |
