On Tuesday, September 22nd Leavander Johnson passed away due to injuries received in his fight with Jesus Chavez this past Saturday. For awhile after the fight it appeared as if Leavander's condition had stabilized and was improving, but unfortunately he would never regain consciousness.
I watched this fight, as it was on the MAB v. Peden undercard. I didn't see anything wrong with Leavander in the ring, but apparently he lost consciousness shortly after arriving in the locker room.
Boxing is the hurt business, plain and simple. Sad day.

That really stinks. I don't think that guy was very old. Did he have a family? Does this type of thing happen often for fighters?
