UNHAPPY FRI: Yanks Post First Losing April Since 1991
Friday, April 29, 2005

Above is Jeter's reaction to being called out on strikes in the 9th inning of 3-1 loss to Angels last night at the Boogie Down.

We're assured our first losing April since 1991 after a 3-1 defeat against the Angels last night. The Yanks have only scored 1 run in each of the last two games after posting 12 in the series opener against the Angels. NO GOOD !!

Well, two former Cy Young Award winners square off when the Bombers host the Blue Jays tonight. 5-time winner Randy Johnson (2-1, 4.19 ERA) goes against Roy Halladay (3-1, 4.25).

YA SURE YOU BETCHA (ya heard)

I had to do this self portrait (by taking my pic in the mirror) to ask the question: Is this the face of a Southerner? How can this boy be anything but pure-100%-yankee? There's been a nasty rumor making it's way around the blogosphere that a Southern accent emanates from this person. Well peoples, all i can say is, NO.

Fear not, tis a fallacy peoples. So, haters, crawl back in yo holes and recognize. (Note: there are 2 distinct Dakotas)

Posada, Pavano Pace Yanks' Win Over Jays

Jorge Posada went 3-for-5 with his first homer of the season and four RBIs, while Carl Pavano earned his first Yankees win with an eight-inning, seven-hit performance. Pavano allowed one earned run over eight innings, while the offense battered Toronto's pitching for 14 hits, giving the Yankees an 11-2 victory over the Blue Jays.

I'LL TAKE IT !!

Yanks lose to the Devil Rays 6-2

Here's a great shot of Randy Johnson right after giving up a homerun last night. Notice the Devil Ray circling the bases in the background, now that's art.

I know everything will be fine, but c'mon. Who wants to come home from work and watch this garbage? It's just not right. DISAPPOINTED !!

INTRODUCING POPE BENEDICT XVI
Tuesday, April 19, 2005

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany, a longtime guardian of doctrinal orthodoxy, was elected the new Pope today. He chose the name Benedict XVI. I don't know much about him, I was perty confident Dionigi Tettamanzi of Milan was going to be our new pope.

I can't wait to heart him speak, this is important stuff, peoples.

Thanks Yanks, May I Have Another?

After an angry George Steinbrenner said Sunday he was "bitterly disappointed" that his team was "not playing like true Yankees," the Bombers made an unmistakable statement with a 13-run second inning against Tampa Bay last night.

It was the largest run production in an inning ever by the Yankees at home, and the final result was 19-8 after the Bombers took a 13-0 lead. Tino Martinez drove in five runs in the second - four on a grand slam into the right-field seats and A-Rod had 5 hits and drove in 6.

Still, it's not all good news. Jaret Wright gave up 11 hits and 8 runs in only 5.1 innings. That's no good. right?

As you can see (kinda) from the above pic, Mo Mo is really sitting-up on his own these days. He's still got a little wobble-action going on, but whatcanyado?

$200 Million for Nothin

Shortly after yesterday's 8-4 loss to the Orioles that stretched the Yankees' losing streak to four, Steinbrenner cried uncle.

"Enough is enough," Steinbrenner said in a statement. "I am bitterly disappointed, as I am sure all Yankee fans are (ya heard), by the lack of performance by our team. It is unbelievable to me that the highest paid team in baseball would start the season in such a deep funk."

Then, as usual, The Boss said it was Joe Torre's mess to fix.

"They are not playing like true Yankees," said Steinbrenner, who has invested more than $200 million in a team that is four games out of first place in mid-April. "They have the talent to win and they are not winning. I expect Joe Torre, his complete coaching staff and the team to turn this around."

So, 12 games into a season the 4-8 Yankees have gotten under the Boss's skin. I'm beginning to think this is the worst team money can buy. I'm sure Torre will right the ship, but c'mon. Right?
